SOUS CHEF

 

We are looking for a Sous Chef to join the Fat Radish, in Frome. The Sous Chef that takes on this role will have worked to a high level of gastronomy and be extremely passionate about the ingredients and dishes that they create, using the very best seasonal and local ingredients.

You will support the Head Chef with the day to day running of the kitchen operation, and be responsible for the effective running of the kitchen in their absence. This will include stock control and ordering, menu planning, staff training and development and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. 

We are looking for someone with at least two years experience cooking in a commercial kitchen who is hard-working, reliable, organised, creative, and passionate about food and customer service.

 

You will be able to work in a high-pressure, high-turnover environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player and also able to work unsupervised. You will also be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Applicants must possess:

•    Food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation skills, as well as menu development and creativity when devising new dishes 

    •    Understanding of and ability to practice good kitchen maintenance and   cleaning

•    Experience in maintaining stocks and supplies, and feel competent in liaising with suppliers 

    •    Ability to follow food safety requirements and maintain relevant paperwork to health and hygiene legislation 

    •    Excellent communication with other team members and experience in leading a team

Part time to full time hours available dependent on applicant. 

Should you be successful in your application you will begin on a three month probationary contract. After three months if you have successfully fulfilled your job role, this will then be signed to a permanent contract.

GENERAL MANAGER

We are employing a General Manager who is passionate about the industry, well organised, creative and able to lead a team to 5 star restaurant victory!

We are looking for someone to bring their own ideas to the table, working closely with the Head Chef to create exciting menus and events, and drive the business forward.

You will be able to work in a high-pressure, high-turnover environment, whilst delivering consistently excellent service. You will also be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.


Core skills and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations

  • Be a responsible key holder and cash handler, overseeing correct cashing up procedures, banking and change orders

  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction

  • Regularly review product quality and research new products/suppliers/menu options

  • Organize and supervise shifts

  • Oversee itinerary and ordering of Front of House supplies and cleaning products

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, keeping up to date paperwork and adhering to council policies

  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste and drive sales

  • Explore sales reports and expenditure with Company Accountant to produce detailed reports on weekly, monthly and annual revenues and expenses

  • Maintain our online and social platforms to promote to restaurant in an engaging and creative way

  • Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts and social media ads)

  • Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices

  • Hold regular staff meetings and socials to ensure effective team operation and performance in a secure and pleasant environment
