Head Chef Wanted

We are seeking a creative and experienced Head Chef to join the team, following a rebrand and re-launch this Spring. The candidate that takes on this role will have worked to a high level of gastronomy and be extremely passionate about the ingredients and dishes they create, devising menus to appeal to a broad and diverse market.

You will be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen operation, including stock control and ordering, menu planning, staff training and development, and adhering to excellent health and safety practices.  

We are looking for someone with at least two years experience cooking in a commercial kitchen who is hard-working, reliable, organised, creative, and passionate about food and customer service. You will be able to work in a high-pressure, high-turnover environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player and excellent supervisor. You will also be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation skills, as well as menu development and creativity when devising new dishes

  • Excellent knowledge of seasonal produce, flavour combinations, and a flare for trying new things

  • Understanding of and ability to practice good kitchen maintenance and cleaning, with the ability to follow and ensure excellent practices are followed within the team. Ensuring food safety requirements and relevant paperworkadheres to current health and hygiene legislation

  • Experience in maintaining stocks and supplies, and feel competent in liaising with suppliers to constantly seek out the best ingredients for the best prices

  • Excellent communication with other team members and experience in leading a team

  • Holding regular menu development days with staff members, training chefs to develop their skills, and educating service staff in menu options in order for team members to become passionate about the products they are producing and driving sales

  • Working alongside the General Manager to create menus that work with the seasonal cocktail and wine lists, as well as working on reducing wastage and promoting more environmentally friendly practices

  • Working alongside the General Manager to cost menu items effectively, understand the financial side of the business, set targets, drive sales and increase gross profits

  • Work alongside the General Manager to plan special events and event menus to regularly offer new and exciting experiences for our customers, whilst bringing trade to quieter periods
